DR KEVIN FIELD

Pianist and composer Kevin Field has collaborated and recorded with the rising stars of the international jazz scene that includes guitarist Nir Felder, bassist Matt Penman and drummer Obed Calvaire, whom all feature on his New York album The A List (Warner Music). Kevin’s distinctive approach to jazz harmony is probably the most recognisable element in his playing and compositions. Kevin has performed concerts in the UK, USA, Australia and NZ and has featured on over 30 albums including five that have achieved award-winning status. A lecturer in Jazz Studies at The University of Auckland, Kevin’s compositions have been broadcast in Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, USA, Denmark, Netherlands, Singapore, Japan, Norway, Belgium, Austria, Israel and Czech Republic.

DR OLIVER HOLLAND

Originally from Germany, bassist, composer, arranger and educator Olivier Holland has performed at major festivals and venues in Europe, Australasia and the US, with leading artists such as Denis Gaebel, Djamel Laroussi, Nathan Haines, Whirimako Black, Stefon Harris, John Goldsby, Doug Lawrence, Jamey Oehlers – to name a few. To date he has contributed to 25 CD releases! Current recording projects include GJAZZ featuring Geoffrey Keezer, Tereon Gully, Joscho Stephan, Denis Gaebel, due to be released later in 2018, as well as DOG+1 which was released in June 2018. A senior lecturer in the music department at the University of Auckland, Olivier teaches jazz performance and composition, researching all aspects and styles related to the playing of double bass and electric bass guitar.

Of Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Maniapoto, Raukawa descent. My professional music career began in Tāmaki Makaurau as jazz singer/guitarist with Greg Johnson’s ‘Blue Speak' at Delmonico DeBretts, fronted the Phil Broadhurst Trio at The London Bar, have worked alongside Nathan Haines and Peter Urlich at Cause Celebre, and led a Trio with Kevin Field and Latin percussionist Miguel Fuentes at Iguacu in Parnell. A graduate of the Stanford University Jazz Workshop in America under the guidance of DownbeatJazz Vocal winner Mark Murphy. I have performed live with fellow ex-pat New Zealander and saxophonist Roger Mannins at the inaugural Oceania Arts Festival in NYC. This event was a celebration of NZ and Australian artists with residency in Manhattan New York are career highlights on a lengthy resume

RAYMOND BISHOP

Descending from Ngāti Mahanga and Ngāti Maniapoto, Ray has devoted 30+ years toa fulltime professional musician/songwriter. Appreciative of all music genres, Ray tutors at Excel Performing Arts based in Henderson, manages “The Heart & Soul Band Collective” supplying professional entertainment throughout Tāmaki Makaurau, and is the founder of The iDream Project, a nationwide project that encourages adults, young and old to seek a career path way of imagination and creativity.
